Don Van has been with the St Charles County Sheriffs Department since 1985. Prior to that, he was with the St
Clair County, Illinois Sheriffs Dept. Don was also a police officer in the town of The Plains, Virginia for
approximately one year. Don’s law enforcement career spans across 26 years.
Don has been with the Fraternal Order of Police for approximately 17 years. Currently he serves as the
Conductor of the Executive Board and the Chairman of the Legislative committee. Don was one of the original
Executive Board members of the St Charles County Deputy Sheriffs Association. He has held every position on
the St. Charles County Deputy Sheriffs Association Board and is currently the Vice President.
Don has been a state and national trustee several times in the past 10 years.
Don’s goals for Lodge #15 are to help boost membership and to assist different departments in establishing
collective bargaining rights from their employers.
