Jim became a police officer in 1979 and graduated from the former Greater St Louis Police Academy.  Jim followed in his grandfather's

Jim started his police career as an explorer with the St Louis Police 1st District.  He was hired by the St Louis Police Department in 1976 in
the Motor Service Division.  He then transferred to the Communication Division where he worked as a dispatcher until his appointment as a

Lynch (3rd) Street Districts and worked as a Detective in Major Fraud and Vice/Narcotics.  He retired as a Sergeant in 2000.

As a St Louis Police Officer, Jim worked in the Fox Park Neighborhood with the DOJ Weed and Seed initiative as both an officer and
sergeant.  During that time the neighborhood was visited by two different Presidents touting the success of community policing.  Jim also
established the area’s first bicycle patrol.

As a police officer with Chesterfield, Jim authored an article in the national publication for loss prevention on retail business and policing.

Jim has served on Missouri FOP Lodge 15’s Executive Board since 2008 in the position of Guard and Recording Secretary.  He is also a

Association.

Jim is a former member of MO FOP Lodge 68 (SLPOA) and became a member of Lodge 15 after retiring from the SLMPD.  He frequently
lobbies in Jefferson City for FOP concerns and legislation.  He was an outspoken critic of municipal residency requirements and testified before
House and Senate committees against them.
